One Thing at a Time: How to Choose Your Next Small Step

Clarity can start with one decision.

When a list becomes too long, adding more planning can sometimes create more friction. Try reducing the field of view.

Ask three questions

  1. What matters today?
  2. What has a real consequence if I delay it?
  3. What is the smallest action that moves it forward?

Turn the answer into a visible action

“Work on finances” is vague. “Open the account and write down the current balance” is a beginning.

Give the action a short container

Try five or ten minutes. The goal is to begin, not to finish your entire life in one sitting.

Your micro-action

Choose one open loop and write only its next physical or digital action. Then do that action before adding another one.

Take it to the community

Share your one next step with the NOVA WEY community and invite someone else to share theirs.
